Henley Halebrown with East to lead Central Winchester Regeneration

Henley Halebrown are leading the Central Winchester Regeneration scheme for Jigsaw by Partnerships & Places.
Winchester City Council's development partner, Jigsaw is a collaboration between Genr8 Kajima Regeneration (Kajima and Genr8 Developments) and Igloo Regeneration with Thriving Investments (part of the Places for People group).
Henley Halebrown, working in collaboration with East on the masterplan, architecture, public realm and landscape, will head a wider design team including Peter Barber Architects, Turner.Works, Expedition, Useful Projects and Momentum to advance proposals.
The project will see a diverse mix of uses, including independent food and retail spaces, flexible workspaces, creative hubs, sustainable homes, and vibrant public spaces.
Oliver Barker, senior development manager at Genr8 Kajima, said the combination of the design team and a “forward thinking local authority with a real vision” was an “exciting opportunity”.
“Good design is at the heart of our plans for the city centre, and by creating attractive and comfortable living and working spaces, we can ensure that the rejuvenated city will become a desirable place for people of all ages,” he said.
The team, assembled by igloo's Creative Director John Nordon, will create a "long-term placemaking solution" for Winchester's prominent Kings Walk, Friarsgate and bus station sites, which will also be better connected to the wider city.
